Pronounced „Batjushka”,the band’s Cyrillic name Батюшка means „father” and is used to address an Eastern Orthodox priest. 

Despite their themes and imagery, they are not a Christian band.

The legendary Polish blackened death gods HATE have proven to be a great match with BATUSHKA within several tour legs. It is a must to have a live taste of the songs of pure blasphemy inspired by archaic Slavic themes and mythologies from their album Rugia, as well as best works from Auric Gates of Veles.

Since 2010, FIRTAN are dedicated to extreme metal and can look back upon a long list of numerous shows in their home country Germany and abroad. Their sound is mainly inspired by the 90s Black Metal scene. Over the years, FIRTAN was able to create a sound beyond any eclecticism that has become more self-contained and unique. With their third studio album Marter the group will continue their journey crafting their own interpretation of black metal. Regarding the theme, the songs deal with the isolation of the modern individual who finds himself torn between spiritual hope and existential failure. Just like their predecessor album Okeanos, Marter is going to be another proof of the band’s versatility and another milestonecontribution to the dynamic German Black Metal scene.

Die Idee für das Soloprojekt entstand bereits 2009. 2011 wurde das erste Demo „am Rande aller Lichter“ veröffentlicht. Erst 2015 folgte die EP „Horizont“ und die Split mit der befreundeten Band Idisenfluch. 2017 erschien die nächste Split mit der ebenfalls befreundeten Band Urgewalt. Das Lied für die Split wurde dann 2019 nochmal als Single auf Bandcamp veröffentlicht. Das erste Album „Syndrom“ wurde im Februar 2022 von dem Berliner Kult-Label Folter Records veröffentlicht. Das Album beschäftigt sich im wesentlichen mit dem Kampf gegen innere Dämonen und der tiefen chronischen Trauer derer, die auf besondere Art vom Leben gezeichnet sind. Anachoret ist und bleibt ein Soloprojekt, indem alle Musik bis auf gelegentlich Gastauftritte von mir eingespielt und eingesungen wird. Anachoret steht für Nostalgie, innere Zerrissenheit und die Schönheit der Natur in den bayerischen Alpen.
