Marten, born Martin Furtlehner in Ardagger, is part of a new generation of Austrian musicians who see dialect not as a burden of tradition, but as artistic freedom. He first drew attention in 2022 through his strong presence on Starmania, where he unexpectedly made it all the way to the final and introduced himself to a broad audience for the first time.

His style — “Modern Mundart Pop” — combines clear, compelling vocals with contemporary pop, rock and electronic elements. Marten’s debut album Own Way (2024) makes that signature unmistakable: twelve songs between melancholy, a sense of departure and self-questioning, carried by a voice that sounds grounded and ambitious at the same time.

With several million streams, strong radio play and a sold-out release tour, he has established himself in Austrian pop in a very short time. His themes — love, loss, finding direction, growing up — unfold with a particular intimacy in dialect. At the same time, he moves between two worlds: music and medical studies, heart and craft.

Marten stands for pop that feels close, unforced and distinctive — and for an artistic personality still finding his place, but already sounding remarkably clear.
