Over the years, "Local Heroes" has featured both artists who have gone on to become established names in Austria’s music landscape and promising new talents. Renowned acts such as Bilderbuch, Steaming Satellites and Please Madame, who have all begun their rise to fame on the "Local Heroes" stage, are exemplary for the role that the "Local Heroes" series plays for regional talents.

Each band plays a 45-minute set that should consist mainly of original material. "Local Heroes" sees itself not only as a concert format, but also as a shared experience: the participating acts actively help shape the evening, do the soundcheck together, and get to know the workings of a professional event first-hand.

The bands support promotion by spreading the word in their own circles. The musician's fee is paid as a share of the ticket revenue.
