Understanding Stage Fright and Performing with Confidence

The workshop is aimed at musicians of all styles who want to improve their live performance and are at the start of their concert or studio careers.

If you want, you can bring your accompanying instrument with you.

Stage fright is part of making music — especially at your first concerts or studio sessions. In this new workshop by Simon Paulus, musicians of all ages learn to see nerves not as an obstacle, but as a natural part of performing and to use them constructively. The focus is on understanding that your own worth does not depend on technical skill, and that stage fright can neither be switched off nor avoided. Anyone who understands how nerves affect their personal playing and performing life gains confidence on stage and in the studio.

The workshop teaches practical practice strategies that anchor music on several levels — auditory, motor, emotional and mental. This is supplemented by methods for staying stable under pressure, such as variations in practice, mental preparation and conscious handling of disruptive factors. Performance and show elements such as movement, expression, audience connection, setlist design and the confident handling of your own equipment are also included.

The aim of the workshop is to better understand stage fright, gain confidence in what you do, and perform with more calm, focus and enjoyment.
