All about the Event
The stage performance of Strange Kind Of Women, with its passionate, high-energy temperament, conveys an authentic impression of the work of Deep Purple’s rock icons and impresses both newcomers and seasoned scene veterans alike. Only a few bands manage to come truly close to their role models in both show and sound. Ian Paice, the legendary drummer of Deep Purple and the band’s only remaining original member, also took notice, and since then has been so impressed that he even played with them at a joint concert in Graz. Afterwards he said: “It’s really fun to play with them. They do a really great job, have a great sound and give it everything. I really enjoyed playing with them.”
The lineup of “Strange Kind Of Women – The Classic Deep Purple Years” consists of five professional, internationally active musicians. The women at the forefront, who enjoy admiration and fame in Italy: after Alteria left the band in autumn 2024, amicably, for professional and personal reasons, the London-based lead singer Ronnie and guitarist Eliana Cargnelutti, the new hope of Italian blues rock, now take the lead. They are joined by Chiara Cotugno on drums, Margherita Gruden on keyboards and Elettra Pizzale on bass.
AURORA BY NOON stands for a sound between melody and punch - carried by catchy choruses, precisely interlocking guitars and a rhythm section that moves effortlessly between classic rock and modern heaviness. From the outset, the band combined timeless influences with a clear commitment to its own identity.
With Black Crosses in the Sun (2023), the band made a clear first statement. The album was received positively by both the press and the scene. Airplay in several countries, as well as strong reviews, early on underlined the band’s international potential.
In 2024 and beyond, the band’s international presence increasingly moved into focus. The nomination for “Best International Band” at Radio Wigwam and second place at the awards ceremony in London in 2025 underlined that AURORA BY NOON’s sound is being noticed far beyond Austria as well.
At the same time, the band continued to develop internally. In 2025, this finally marked a clear break with the previous direction — and at the same time the logical next step. As part of a lineup change, the sound was sharpened and reimagined.
With Jodie-Louise Baker, AURORA BY NOON found its voice as it stands today: soulful, at times smoky, and with an intensity that combines vulnerability and power. In her expressive strength, she is reminiscent of Tori Amos — but carried by a guitar-driven foundation rather than classic piano arrangements. She is the missing piece that fully brings out the emotional and lyrical depth of the songs.
The current lineup stands for a clear evolution: more direct, more contrasting and more atmospherically dense. AURORA BY NOON remains true to its core, but consistently redefines its own sound.
New material reflecting this development is currently being created and is announced for November 2026.
